My other interest other than producing and manufacturing Oleum products, is VW's. I restore old Beetles, but my 'pride and joy' is my 1960 Karmann Ghia coupe. It is in the process of being restored. It will be 'taken' back to it's original condition, but with some modern improvements. Some of these improvements will be larger engine (2000cc type IV), Electric Blue metalic paint with pearl with clear over the top, and a lowered suspention with wide tyres. The top picture is what a fully restored Karmann Ghia looks like.
Right now it is just a rolling chassis, with plenty of work to get it to the condition it needs to be. I have all the needed parts, many of them new, ready to put together. My background is a Fitter/Welder, so I'm going to rebuild this classic, the correct and proper way, so this... car (and 'car' seems an inapropriate word,) is restored just as good as the day it was built in the Karmann factory. It'll still have the beautiful lines and looks that are timeless, which make the Karmann Ghia what it is today, but this rebuild will come with some modern additions, like suspention, brakes, engine power and the painted finish. The two lower pictures are what my Karmann Ghia looks like at this moment. As can be seen, there's a fair bit of work needed to bring this beautiful looking coupe back to it's former glory. I feel privlaged to be able to be part of this cars continuing existance, hopefully for many years to come. I'll be adding updated pictures as this 'long term' project continues. This really is my passion and I absolutely love it.
If anyone is interested in my project, then e-mail or call, I would be happy to discuss.
