We will soon be producing all our power from Wind Energy. Within the next few months, our Wind Turbine will come online and be producing 100% power, to our home and shop.
The installation will consist of a 500 watt Wind Generator, 24 volt battery bank (19,800 amp hours), connected to a 240 volt, 3.0 kVA Inverter, that will convert the battery power (DC) to 240 volt AC. We will, when up and running, disconnect from the national grid altogether. All done with a 'truely' renewable energy product, the wind.
If there is no wind for a while (which does not happen around here very often), we have reserve power for 5 days from the battery reserve. If our batteries are getting 'low', a Diesel generator that runs on Biodiesel, will charge them to full charge. All the fuel is produced here on the farm. Biodiesel is another renewable product, made from recycling waste deep frying oil.
